Wedding at Inn On The Lake Ullswater
Friday 25th March 2016 (Good Friday)
What a lovely wedding. Firstly they had the wedding ceremony out on the lawns overlooking the lake and mountains. I played and sung the bride (Louise) down the aisle to a very slow broken down version of Use Somebody by the Kings of Leon. This version was very much like Laura Janson’s version link here: https://youtu.be/rBzcOUOY5YY and was a beautiful start to the ceremony. Then for the signing of the register I sung The One by Kodaline but completely live just with the piano. Hear my version here: https://soundcloud.com/simondoreyuk/the-one-kodaline-cover-by-wedding-singer-wedding-musician-simon-dorey and Photograph by Ed Sheeran. I had to learn Photograph especially for them as I had never performed this before. Then walking back up the aisle together I sung Marry You by Bruno Mars, a very upbeat uplifting track and this went down really well!
Then whilst the guests were having drinks I set up my White Baby Grand Piano for the Wedding Breakfast. This was the first time I had set up my Piano with the enhancements such as the lighting inside the lid that now tilts. It really does give off the wow factor. Unfortunately I just didn’t have time to take any snaps, but I’m sure the photographer did, so I will be hounding him for some pics!
Then whilst the speeches were taking place, I set up everything for the evening reception. The bride & groom hired an LED dance floor which always looks fab and also huge love letters. I took a quick pic before everyone came in the room of my set up too.
The first dance was an awesome John Legend song So High. Again, I had to learn this song for them and this was a great one to learn as I’m sure many other couples will like this song and want me to perform it for them. Then it was down to everyone to have a good night and do plenty of dancing. At one point in the night Louise asked me if she could have a dance with her dad and she picked ‘Your Song’ by Elton John. Well I jumped at the chance to sing this live for them and so it was a very special moment indeed. Then out of the blue the Groom (Darren) asked me if he could sing a song to his lovely bride. Now normally I would say ‘no’ to anyone who wanted to sing, it could go horribly wrong, and it isn’t a night of karaoke, and if one person starts….guess what?! but because it was the groom, and I knew he had sung this song before, and I just got the feeling it would be great, I was delighted to give him the mic. Again, these are special moments during a wedding that I really like to be part of, these kind of moments can actually make the wedding!
All in all a great day and it was a pleasure to be part of their day. Further more, I used to go to school with the groom so there was a little bit a pressure there, and I really wanted to make it special for them and do a great job! The night ended on a high with a couple of Oasis classics and Take That’s Never Forget.
Would also like to say that the staff were fantastic and really looked after me. Always nice when this happens, makes my job a lot easier. Thank You Inn On The Lake!
